Maybelline Color Blur Cream Matte Pencil in Berry Misbehaved Review & Swatches

Recently Maybelline came out with a new line of lip pencils which are called the Color Blur Lip pencils. These came out for Summer/Fall of 2015 and I have been trying them out since then. This new lipstick from Maybelline has a matte finish and is dual ended. One side of the pencil has the cream matte color and the other end has plastic smudger. This trend of the smudger has only been seen in Korean lip brands, not a lot in the US. When Maybelline released this collection I was really curious to try out the pencils.

Berry Misbehaved  is a bright berry shade that dries down to a matte finish. The formula of the pencil is very creamy and does not tug onto your dry patches. The smudger part is something that got a lot of people confused at first even me. But later when I was actually trying out the product and reading the directions on how to apply the product it all made sense. The best way to apply this product is to apply the lipstick on the center of your lips and take the smudger and smudge it on the rest of your lips. This is suppose to give your lips an ombre faded out look and not an intense look. The smudger is plastic and I feel like it does not do a good job at smuding out the lipstick. The lipstick itself is very pigmented, super creamy and lasts all day on the lips.

Over all if you do not like the smudger you can always use the lipstick by itself and you wont be disappointed. I am very impressed with this lip pencil just not the new trend of the smudger on the end. Let me know in the comments below if you have tried this new lip pencils from Maybelline and your thoughts. Thank you so much for reading and have a great day.

  1. These haven't made their way to Australia yet, I don't think, and I was pretty intrigued about the whole 'colour blur' idea! I think it might be alright if you used, say, two different pencils and blended them together to get a dual-colour ombre look -- but the way it's been advertised is just... weird. Such a pretty colour, tho!
