Makeup Revolution is one of these brands that I have heard a lot about but never actually got to try them because of online only ordering for the US. Recently I was at Ulta and came across a whole display of MR products and got very excited. MR is a brand that is based in London, I have looked on the website many times but when I see shipping costs I always back out. Ulta has a variety of MR products and for very affordable drugstore prices. I picked up a couple of palettes and today I will be reviewing on the of them for you.
First of all lets talk about the packaging of this palette. It does look very cheap and the plastic is not even that great. The twelve shadows come house in a plastic package with a clear lid, the name and the ingredients are listed on the back of the palette. For a drugstore point the packaging is alright, but you have to be careful because it can easily break. This palette includes six shimmery and six matte shades which range from nudes to dark smokey pigments. At first look you can create many different looks with this palette which is great. The pigmentation is great on this palette but you can always apply a primer and get more intense pigmentation. The formula of the shadows is very powdery and some of them are stiff also. I applied the swatches with the brush that comes in the palette and the shadows seemed chalky also. Without primer these shadows lasted me four hours before creasing and fading away and with primer they lasted a little bit longer.
Over all I am okay with this palette I think I will using the matte shades more than the shimmery ones. The price range is not bad at all for this palette and it has some great shades to create many looks. Let me know in the comments below if you have tried anything from Makeup Revolution. Thank you so much for reading and have a great day.

it looks like it has some pretty colors, too bad it isn't pigmented as well as you would like!
ReplyDeletelove, rach.
So, hi.
yeah the shades are pretty!
DeleteMakeup Revolution is one of those brands that can have some palettes that are outstanding and some that are not so great. I've never tried any of their Redemption palettes (I have a lot of their Salvation palettes, though!) but at a first glance I would say that it's their answer to the Naked Smoky palette! Makeup Rev shadows really do work best with a primer or base underneath -- sometimes a bit of both (for me, MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot and NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk".
ReplyDeleteI completely understand what you mean by the quality of the shadows, too. Their shimmers and metallic shades are buttery, soft and extra-pigmented most of the time; their matte shades are usually very, very chalky to swatch (the only exception for me was their Matte Brights palette) but they do actually build quite well, especially with a synthetic brush.
Hopefully you'll find a nicer palette from them the next time you're at Ulta! (Keep an eye out for the Salvation palettes, if they stock them there!)

DeleteI've always been tempted by Makeup Revolution palettes but for some reason I've never picked on up! Might have to give them a try now :)
