Guest Post: L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation Review

Hello Beauties,

I have a guest post on my blog today, I haven't done one of these for a while so starting this month I will be doing one each month. Today we have the beautiful Tiffany from Stay Beautifful, check her blog out to see reviews of makeup products.

Hey everybody! I hope you are all doing well. I'm so excited for spring, not only because it's only the season before summer, but because of all the new launches from brands! The drugstore has recently exploded with new lines and new products, and L'oreal is no exception. The L'oreal Infallible range has been extended to include a foundation, powder and setting spray!
I have yet to test out the powder and setting spray, but today I am reviewing their brand new foundation, the L'oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation.
Where to buy: You can purchase the Infallible Pro-Matte foundation on L'oreal.com, or on Target.com for $11.99-12.99 (give or take a a few dollars depending on where you purchase it.)
Claims: Here's what L'oreal has to say about the Pro-Matte foundation: "Achieve a matte finish that won’t fall flat with this air-light, long wearing liquid formula. Lightweight and creamy, foundation goes on smooth with a demi-matte finish that lasts up to 24 hours—hiding imperfections for a smooth, clear complexion."
So, the foundation claims to feels light on the skin, goes on creamy, and appears smooth on the skin, and wears for a whole day! I did not test it for a full 24 hours because wearing makeup for so long isn't great for the skin, and I don't sleep with makeup on, but I did have it on for 9-10 hours, most of the day- which is as long as the average person will need foundation coverage. Who's going around with foundation for 24 hours on a daily basis right? But it's good to know if you need it, this will offer a great wear time.
Personally, I was over the moon when I found out L'oreal was coming out with this foundation. I was on the hunt for a good matte foundation, and I was even contemplating splurging for a high-end foundation at Sephora, but I'm really glad I didn't! Read on to find out why...

The Infallible Pro-Matte foundation comes in a compact squeeze tube with a twist off plastic cap:

I bought two shades to see which one would fit me better, and it turns out the Sun Beige was perfect for my NW25-30 skintone, but I'm saving Fresh Beige for the summertime when I get tanner. Here's a swatch comparison in case anybody was wondering about the shades. (I know it's really hard to tell how the shades differ, especially online.)

My skin/skin type: I am around NW25-30, and normally a medium-beige shade in foundations and concealers with warm yellow/neutral, undertones. I am dry/combination depending on the weather. (Oilier in summer, dryer in the winter.) I get oily mainly around my T-zone, particularly my nose, but I have dry patches on my chin and around my nose.
Application: I applied one complete layer to my whole face and blended it a bit down my neck, and went in for a second layer to conceal some blemishes and redness around my nose, forehead and chin. It blended fine, but seemed to dry a bit quickly, so I would recommend doing half your face first.
The application, as claims, was extremely soft and creamy and when applied, didn't feel anything on my skin. Even my L'oreal True Match and Revlon Colorstay has a foundation/masky feel on my face, but this one was so light and airy. It claims to be medium coverage, and I think it is light to medium coverage, but buildable depending on how many layers you decide to apply.
Wear time: When first applied, it looks flawless. I couldn't tell I was wearing foundation at all! It looked and felt like my skin, but blemish-free. It canceled out all the redness around my nose and chin, and evened out my skintone. Normally, I would have to go in with concealer and spot-treat my redness, but I didn't even feel the need to do that. I get oily around my T-zone, and the oil didn't even really surface until around 5 hours after application, and that was only on the center of my nose. Everything else on my face remained matte. It did, however, cling onto some dry patches around my nose, but I have yet to meet a foundation that has not done so. Plus, it is not obvious at all unless you're all up in my face.

Overall: In conclusion, I would rate this foundation a 4.5/5. I am very pleasantly surprised by it. I took away only half a point because after around 5-6 hours, I could see my blemishes coming through and some redness, but I gave it 4.5 points because by that point with any other foundation, I would have been a greasy mess, and would have needed to powder much earlier. This is a wonderful creamy, lightweight matte foundation. It is matte, but does not give your face a flat appearance whatsoever. It wore for an outstanding 8 hours without feeling dry, cakey, or smudging off at all, looking like I had just applied it even 7-8 hours afterwards. I would highly recommend this to a friend, and any random person on the street! It's definitely worth checking out. I think I have found my new favorite foundation, and without breaking the bank either! :)
Let me know if you're planning on picking it up, and what you think!
Thanks for tuning in, catch you soon!

  6. So if you have yellow undertones, why don't you wear NC shades in MAC? NW is typically for more cooler/pink undertones.

  7. Hi! I'm choosing between this and the Revlon Colorstay one. We have the same skin I think, I also have Combi/Oily skin, with dry patches in some parts. I already tested out the Revlon and it was great, but I wanted to have this one tested out too, unfortunately they didn't have a tester for L'oreal :(
